The venerable Jeep Wrangler keeps its timeless spirit intact year after year but evolves a few specific features with each new model year to stay competitive with cars more tied to the moment. Its pickup truck sibling, the Jeep Gladiator, is too new to have that same history. But the two are close enough that they stick together.
For 2022, that means entertainment updates. The Wrangler also gains a few off-road features limited to specific trim levels.
2022 Gladiator
The Jeep pickup starts at $35,610 for 2022, plus a $1,595 destination fee. It gains a pair of new screen options.
The base Sport model gets a 7-inch display screen, replacing the little 5-inch model found on the 2021 Gladiator Sport. It comes paired with Jeep’s Uconnect 4 system, meaning Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now standard. Overland, Rubicon, and Mojave models get a larger, 8.4-inch screen running the more advanced Uconnect 4C system. It comes with navigation and a nine-speaker Alpine stereo system.
Remote proximity keyless entry is standard for 2022, as is a new cabin filter that removes 95 percent of particles.
2022 Wrangler
The 2022 Wrangler starts at $29,725, plus $1,595 for delivery.
The Wrangler gets a similar set of changes. The 7-inch screen replaces the 5-inch mode on every Wrangler Sport and Sport S, except the 2-door model without air conditioning. Which is a sentence we wouldn’t expect to find ourselves writing in 2021, but there it is. It’s still possible to order a Jeep Wrangler without air conditioning.
Sahara and Rubicon models get the 8.4-inch touchscreen, along with standard remote proximity keyless entry. All trims get the new, more effective cabin filter.
Several models get off-road upgrades as well. The plug-in hybrid Sahara 4xe now includes standard blue tow hooks. And buyers choosing a Rubicon model with the 3.6-liter V6 engine can now select a 4.88 axle ratio, delivering a truly impressive 100:1 crawl ratio from the factory.
