Jeep has unveiled a pair of new full-size SUVs, the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer. The Wagoneer, which we cover elsewhere, immediately becomes the largest full-size SUV on the market. Its sibling, the Grand Wagoneer, is something else entirely – an opulent luxury full-size SUV with a price tag that is easy to push into six-figure territory.
Grand Wagoneer Pricing
Prices for the four trim levels are as follows, with an additional $2,000 for delivery:
- Series I: $88,995
- Series II: $95,995
- Obsidian: $98,995
- Series III: $105,995
The Grand Wagoneer’s body matches the muscular proportions of the Wagoneer, but it’s easy to tell the two apart. The Grand Wagoneer wears a unique version of Jeep’s classic 7-slat grille, with the name lettered directly onto the chrome. Its hood is longer than the standard Wagoneer’s, and the paint is a 2-tone scheme with a black roof. It rides on 20- or 22-inch wheels.
Inside, the Grand Wagoneer offers easily the most luxurious cabin Jeep has ever built. A split-level dashboard includes seemingly acres of real wood, or a matte silver material, at the buyer’s choice. The front seats feature 24-way power adjustment and are heated and cooled. A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12-inch touchscreen are standard. With options, it’s possible to have as many as seven infotainment screens, one at nearly every seating position. Climate control is customizable in four zones. Nappa leather is standard, and softer Palermo leather is optional.
Larger V8 Powers Grand Wagoneer
The Grand Wagoneer carries a larger engine than the Wagoneer does – this one a 6.4-liter V8 making 471 horsepower. It lacks the mild hybrid system of its cheaper brother. Rear-wheel drive is standard, with both QuadraTrac I and QuadraTrac II 4-wheel drive available, depending on how much traction you want to pay for. An 8-speed automatic transmission is standard. Towing is rated at 9,850 pounds – 150 less than the standard Wagoneer, thanks to the added weight of all those luxuries.
An adaptive air suspension offers several driving modes and adjusts the height of the vehicle.
Not every Jeep dealership can sell you a Grand Wagoneer. Special J.D. Power certified dealerships have them, where customers deal with a brand ambassador trained specifically on this vehicle for both purchase and service needs. You can order one today, but it won’t be delivered until late summer at the earliest.
