2022 Hyundai Kona: Price Drop for Electric, Increase for Gas Power

For the 2022 model year, most versions of the Hyundai Kona will get a bit more expensive. But not the electric model. That’s getting a price drop of over $3,000.

Reviewers have praised the Kona, a subcompact SUV known for agile handling and a cabin more upscale than its price would suggest. It won our Best Buy Award in the segment in 2019 and 2020. This year, it lost only to the Kia Seltos – a corporate cousin of sorts.

For 2022, the Kona has received a styling refresh that gives it a cleaner look, with less of the black plastic body cladding that characterized the old Kona. It also gains a sportier-looking N Line model.

Though the changes were unveiled in February, pricing wasn’t released until today.

The 2022 Hyundai Kona SE base model now starts at $21,150. That’s a $650 bump over last year’s model. The SEL Plus, Ultimate, and Night Edition models are gone from the lineup. The price of the Kona Electric, however, has dropped by $3,390.

All Konas also require a $1,225 destination fee (a $40 increase from 2021).

2022 Hyundai Kona Prices (not including destination charge):

  • Kona SE $21,150
  • Kona SEL $22,950
  • Kona N Line $25,700
  • Kona Limited $28,450
