Honda builds two performance-oriented editions of its Civic compact car. The less expensive of them just got a little more expensive.
Honda brought out an all-new Civic for 2022. The new model features a more refined-looking exterior, a clean and attractive cabin, and the tightest chassis of any Civic to date. It’s available as a handsome sedan, with prices starting at $21,900; or as a European-inspired hatchback, with prices starting at $22,900. All Civics also require a $1,015 destination fee.

Two Performance Civics
A new Civic means two new performance models. We don’t know much yet about the top-of-the-line Civic Type R. Honda has revealed teaser photos of the car. The images indicate that it is again based on the hatchback model. Honda also said it will come standard with a 6-speed manual transmission.
We know considerably more about the Civic Si. Traditionally priced below the Type R but still designed to get your pulse racing, the Si is based on the Civic sedan. Today, Honda announced that Si prices will start at $27,300. That is $2,300 more than the last Civic Si, from the 2020 model year.
The Si uses a 200-horsepower 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. It’s got 20 more horsepower than the same 4-cylinder found in upper trim levels like the Civic Touring. A sport-tuned suspension, customizable driving modes, and a richer exhaust note add to the sporty feel.
Heavily bolstered sport seats, red accents throughout the cabin, and aluminum pedals emphasize the feeling that the Si is something sportier than an ordinary Civic.
No Options to Add Cost
The new price is a substantial increase from what a previous-generation Civic Si would set you back. But there’s good news beneath the price.
The 2022 Civic Si comes with virtually every available automotive technology as standard equipment. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 9-inch infotainment display, and a full suite of automated safety features are standard.
