The Chrysler 300 is one of the most recognizable cars on the road. With its broad-shouldered presence and available V8 engines, it’s a throwback in sheet metal. The current 300 was introduced for the 2011 model year. Designers have been restrained with changes for a decade, and they’re not about to throw out the rule book for 2022.
For the new model year, the 300 is getting nothing but minor refinements. Chrysler hasn’t released pricing information for the 2022 model, but given the minimal changes to the car, we expect prices to stay close to steady. The 2021 300 starts at $31,540, plus a $1,495 destination charge. This month, Chrysler is offering a $1,000 incentive on most 300s. That may not sound like much, but incentives are rare in the current market.
The 2022 Chrysler 300 will reach dealerships early next year.
New Air Filters, Streamlined Choices
All trim levels feature a new air filtration system that, Chrysler says, removes 95 percent of particulates from cabin air. That’s the only change for the entry-level Touring model.
Chrysler has made some of the most popular options packages standard equipment for the rest of the lineup.
The mid-level Touring L gets new black accents on the badges, chrome moldings, and wheels, as well as LED fog lamps and tail lights. Last year, that combination was part of the Sport Appearance Package.
The top-of-the-line 300S gets standard navigation, a dual-pane sunroof, and an Alpine audio surround sound system with nine speakers and a trunk-mounted subwoofer. Last year, that combination made up the Popular Equipment Package.
Large Cars a Fading Breed
Chrysler parent company Stellantis earlier this year laid out an aggressive plan to move toward electric cars but didn’t mention any specific Chrysler products that would get new electric drivetrains. That leads us to wonder if the aging 300 may see the sunset soon. To be clear, Chrysler has made no such announcement.
But large sedans are growing rare. Our list of the best full-size cars has only four entrants for 2021. The top-ranked competitor, the Toyota Avalon, will be discontinued after 2022. With Stellantis moving toward electric cars, the 300 could follow before much longer. If you’ve always been tempted by its unabashedly big and aggressive design motif, you may want to act soon.
