For the first time ever, Toyota will leverage TRD (Toyota Racing Division) to improve the Toyota Camry’s appearance and driving dynamics. Hitting showroom in the fall of 2019, the 2020 Toyota Camry TRD will feature a range of unique exterior and interior styling upgrades. These will be complimented by functional enhancements to the Camry TRD’s chassis, brake and exhaust systems.
Toyota let its CALTY Design Research team in Newport Beach, California determine the new Camry TRD’s exterior look. Starting with a revised front splitter, beefier side skirts and larger rear diffuser the team added a trunk lid spoiler and gloss black front grille with a mesh insert. Red pinstripes, red brake calipers and TRD badging combine with a 0.6 lower ride height and 19 x 8.5-inch alloy wheels in matte black to complete the Camry TRD’s street cred.
Stiffer chassis, better handling
The Toyota Camry TRD’s chassis benefits from stiffer coil springs and sway bars, plus TRD-specific shock absorbers to increase roll stiffness 44 percent in front and 67 percent in back. Braking is similarly improved with 12.9-inch front rotors and dual-piston calipers replacing the standard Camry’s 12-inch rotors and single piston calipers.

Cabin upgrades include more aggressively-bolstered front seats with suede inserts, TRD embroidered headrests, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with red contrasting stitching, red seatbelts and TRD graphic in the driver’s display during start up. The TRD logo also appears on the Camry TRD’s shifter, floor mats and trunk mat.
V6 power
Powered by Toyota’s 3.5-liter V6, making 301 horsepower, the Camry TRD’s engine will send power to the front wheels through a 10-speed automatic. The TRD will have the same standard equipment as the Camry SE and be offered in four exterior colors: Supersonic Red, Windchill Pearl, Celestial Silver and Midnight Black Metallic.
When the 2020 Toyota Camry TRD goes on sale in the fall of 2019 we expect Toyota’s top-performing Toyota sedan to be priced around $40,000.
