2020-2021 Infiniti Owners, Act Fast: Free Wireless Apple CarPlay Upgrades until March

Owners of some Infiniti vehicles can get a free upgrade to wireless Apple Carplay, but only if they act quickly.

The offer applies to 2020-2021 versions of the Q50 sports sedan, Q60 sports coupe, QX50 midsize crossover, and QX80 full-size luxury SUV. That covers nearly the entire Infiniti lineup from 2020 and 2021.

Apple CarPlay was included as standard equipment on all of those models, but it operated only by a wired connection. The CarPlay system lets users control many phone functions through voice commands or their car’s touchscreen. An upgrade to wireless CarPlay will allow drivers access to all the same features without bothering to plug in their phones.

Infiniti dealers will activate the wireless version with a software update. It usually takes less than an hour, but drivers have to schedule an appointment to install it. The free upgrade will be available through the end of March.

There’s no word yet on whether Infiniti will make a similar offer to Android Auto users. Infiniti Americans Group Vice President Jeffrey Pope says, “More than 80 percent of luxury vehicle owners use Apple products,” so this upgrade should appeal to most Infiniti owners.
