Later this year, Mercedes will be adding a third roadster to its AMG GT lineup, this one filling a performance gap between the 2019 Mercedes-AMG GT and GT C models. This latest variant, called the Mercedes-AMG GT S is powered by the same 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 as its siblings. However, at 515 horsepower and 494 lb-ft of torque, it slots neatly between the 469-horsepower GT and the 550-horsepower GT C.
"With the AMG GT S Roadster, our AMG GT family has gained another exceptionally sporty member that combines high driving dynamics with an emotional open-air experience," says Tobias Moers, Chairman of Mercedes-AMG GmbH. "The new model represents the perfect alternative for the performance-oriented AMG GT Roadster customer."

Mercedes says the V8 delivers the power through a 7-speed Speedshift MCT gearbox to provide muscular performance in all engine speed ranges. The rear-drive convertible can sprint from 0 to 60 mph is absolved in an estimated 3.7 seconds on to hitting a top speed of 192 mph. Among the standard equipment on the AMG GT S Roadster is an adaptive damping air suspension along with three driving modes of Comfort, Sport and Sport+ that adjust the throttle response, shift points, steering feel and suspension stiffness. Pricing will be announced closer to its on-sale date in late 2018.
