Ford will mark the 50th anniversary of the iconic Bullitt movie by reintroducing a special edition 2019 Mustang Bullitt model later this summer. In addition to being offered in the same Highland Green color as the original car driven by Steve McQueen in the movie, the latest iteration will have a pumped-up version of the standard GT’s 5.0-liter V8, which will make at least 475 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque.
This is the third time a Bullitt Mustang has been offered as a special edition. The first was in 2001 on the fourth generation Mustang, and then again during 2008-09 as a fifth-generation model.

Special exhaust and 6-speed manual featured
The 2019 Mustang Bullitt will be offered with a 6-speed manual transmission, with a white cue ball shift knob as homage to the original ’68 Mustang used in the movie. Also, the vehicle is equipped with an active valve performance exhaust system, Black NitroPlate exhaust tips, Open Air induction and a Shelby GT350 intake manifold with larger throttle bodies, which helps boost performance as well as give the car its signature exhaust note.
The Bullitt comes with a high level of standard equipment, including a heated leather steering wheel, 12-inch digital LCD instrument cluster with a unique Bullitt welcome screen, and leather upholstery with green accent stitching.

Minimal badging
“This new Bullitt is, as Steve McQueen was, effortlessly cool,” said Darrell Behmer, Mustang chief designer. “As a designer, it’s my favorite Mustang – devoid of stripes, spoilers and badges. It doesn’t need to scream about anything – it’s just cool.”
In addition to the signature Dark Highland Green paint scheme, the only other color available on the car is Shadow Black. There’s subtle chrome accents around the grille and front windows, classic 5-spoke alloy wheels, red-painted Brembo brake calipers and a black grille.
Options include an electronics package that features navigation, upgraded sound system and blind spot and cross traffic warnings. MagneRide semi-active suspension and Recaro black leather-trimmed sport buckets are also available.
Pricing will be announced closer to this summer’s on-sale date.
