For 2019, the Chevrolet Malibu benefits from a series of improvements throughout. It gets a new RS trim level, styling updates front and rear, a new connectivity/entertainment system called Chevrolet Infotainment 3, and a new transmission paired with the standard 1.5-liter turbo 4-cylinder engine.

Next year, the Malibu will add an RS trim to its lineup, joining four other Chevrolet models that will receive the RS treatment for 2019. The sporty-looking RS comes with a black grille and bowtie emblems, a spoiler, dual exhaust, and 18-inch machined wheels. RS-specific interior cues include a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, black cloth seats, and an 8-inch touch screen the driver can use to control Chevrolet Infotainment 3. Chevrolet hasn’t announced an official on-sale date for the Malibu RS, but said that pricing should start at about $25,000, between the stickers of the LS and LT.

New Style, Improvements

All models of the Malibu will have a new grille, front fascia and headlights. Premier models will have LED headlights, and both LT and Premier trims will have LED daytime running lights. In back, the taillights, which will employ LEDs on the LT and Premier, benefit from a new design, and the dual exhaust outlets are now moved out to the car’s corners.

For 2019, there are more standard features on the base L, and more equipment is included on uplevel trims. The Malibu’s 1.5-liter turbo engine is backed by a new continuously variable transmission. All Malibu sedans will have an 8-inch touch screen standard with Chevrolet Infotainment 3. This new system uses an HD touch screen, and it’s said to be more intuitive, emulating smartphone and app use. It’s set up to use the Cloud to personalize the user experience, while also allowing easy system updates.
