Acura has introduced the 2019 NSX hybrid sports car with updated exterior accents, new standard features and an upgraded suspension. The 2019 Acura NSX was revealed in its new optional color, Thermal Orange, during the Monterey Car Week. Pricing of $157,500 plus $1,800 destination was announced at the launch, an increase of $1,500 over the 2018 model.

The new exterior look features a body-colored grille bar, which was changed from silver, as well as the use of a high gloss black finish on the grille surround, and front intake and rear outlet mesh. While the price is higher, Acura said it has made $4,700 of previously optional equipment as standard. Among those items are 4-way power sport seats (a $1,500 option in 2018), the ELS Studio premium audio system, which had been a $2,800 extra, and aluminum pedals.

Suspension upgrades

For 2019, Acura has fitted the NSX with a tauter suspension using larger front and rear stabilizer bars to boost chassis stiffness by 26 percent in the front and 19 percent in the rear. Stiffer rear to link bushings and a more rigid rear hub contribute to the vehicle’s increase in handling performance. Recalibrated software to the Super Handling-All Wheel Drive unit, the magnetic shocks and electric power steering adds to the improved dynamics.

Acura’s flagship sports car now rides on Continental SportContact6 tires developed exclusively for the NSX. The new rubber features a revised tread pattern and a new rubber compound to give the vehicle more grip. The 2019 NSX retains it mid-mounted twin turbo V6 engine, which is mated to a 9-speed dual clutch sequential shift automatic. The engine drives the rear axle, while two front mounted electric motors give the car all-wheel drive handling. Combined output of the system is 573 horsepower and 476 lb-ft of torque.
