When the 2019 Acura ILX reaches dealerships next month, it will have received a major refresh and significant upgrades for the new model year. The compact luxury sport sedan last received a refresh for the 2016 model year and has been Acura’s entry level sedan since its debut as a 2013 model.

For 2019, ILX’s exterior receives the new Acura signature Diamond Pentagon Grille, so it will now match the rest of the Acura lineup, which includes TLX sedan, RLX sedan, RDX crossover, MDX crossover and NSX supercar. The new grille is inspired by the Precision Concept vehicle, as are other exterior details. ILX’s exterior is all-new from the A-pillars forward. The sedan also receives changes in the rear, including a new decklid, LED taillights, rear fascia and lower diffuser with an exposed exhaust outlet.

Returning unchanged for 2019 is a 201-horsepower 2.4-liter naturally aspirated 4-cylinder engine tuned to produce 180 lb-ft of torque. It sends power to the front wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT) with steering wheel mounted paddle shifters.

AcuraWatch added to all models

Acura’s active safety and driver-assistive technology suite, AcuraWatch, will be standard in all ILX trim levels for 2019. A dual-screen On Demand Multi-Use Display (ODMD) user interface with updated graphics, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration will be available, now with new software that improves system response time.

Seven paint colors will be available for 2019, including five new premium paint colors (Platinum White Pearl, Majestic Black Pearl, Performance Red Pearl, Canyon Bronze Metallic, and Apex Blue Pearl – which will be an A-Spec exclusive hue) and two returning colors (Lunar Silver Metallic and Modern Steel Metallic).

The interior also gets a new color, Espresso, joining returning choices Graystone and Ebony. A-Spec models will come with a choice of Ebony or Red interior color schemes, each with Ultrasuede inserts. Additionally, ILX will now be fitted with more intricately styled and reshaped sport seats both front and rear, available with high-contrast piping and stitching. Driver’s seats will come with standard power lumbar adjustment.

Pricing for the 2019 Acura ILX will be announced soon, before its arrival at U.S. dealers in October 2018. The current ILX is priced from $28,100 to $35,100 for a top-line A-Spec model.
