2018 Volvo V90 Cross Country Previewed

Set to debut later this month, the 2018 Volvo V90 Cross Country promises to be the most capable version of the automaker’s new flagship series. Building on a franchise that began in 1997 with the introduction of its first V70 XC model, Volvo’s new V90 Cross Country will meld a distinctive appearance with enhanced on/off-road capability popular with active-lifestyles.

The image released is less than totally revealing, but it’s clear the V90 Cross Country sports a bolder nose than the 2018 Volvo V90 Wagon on which it’s based. And like its XC predecessors, new V90 Cross Country will feature standard all-wheel drive and boast greater ground clearance to better support its more adventurous character. While unique cabin trim also seems likely, the passenger compartment of this new Volvo variation should largely mirror the premium look and feel of its S90/V90 siblings.

“Cross Country has become the true expression of a Volvo car in many peoples’ eyes,” noted Håkan Samuelsson, President & CEO, Volvo Car Group. “It was a winning concept from the start, perfect for the tough climate and road conditions that we experience in Sweden.”
