Heading to showrooms this summer, the all-new 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan SUV will start at $25,245 for the front-drive S model. Stepping up to a Tiguan S 4Motion will bumps it to $27,545. That $1,300 AWD cost applies to Tiguan SE, SEL and SEL Premium trim grades. All versions of this now larger and more capable hauler will be fitted with the latest version of VW’s 2.0-liter turbocharged TSI 4-cylinder engine. Developing 184 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque, it will be backed by a new 8-speed automatic transmission. As previously announced, the new Tiguan also will come with a 6-year/72,000-mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty that’s transferrable and also includes coverage of the powertrain components.

Nearly 11 inches longer than its predecessor and offering up to 58 percent more cargo capacity, the 2018 Tiguan is the first to offer 3-row seating, a feature that’s standard in all front-drive versions and optional for those with AWD. All Tiguans have a 40/20/40 second row bench that slides, reclines and also folds flat. The roster of standard equipment includes an array of power assists, 6.5-inch color touchscreen with Bluetooth, a USB port and VW’s Car-Net App-Connect that pairs with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink. Other standard features include air conditioning, alloy wheels, heated mirrors and roof rails.
Opening at $29,980, the Tiguan SE boasts leatherette upholstery, dual-zone climate control, 8.0-inch Composition Media infotainment system with SiriusXM Satellite Radio and a 3-month trial subscription, Voice Control, VW Car-Net Security & Service, keyless access with push-button start and a trio of USB ports as well as an upgraded rearview camera plus Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Monitoring (Front Assist) and Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Traffic Alert.

The $33,450 Tiguan SEL sports an 8.0-inch Discover Media infotainment system with navigation, power liftgate; remote start, panoramic sunroof with ambient lighting and enhanced adaptive cruise control. At the top of the range, the SEL Premium brings full leather trim, a 12.3-inch Volkswagen Digital Cockpit display, Fender Premium Audio, hands-free power liftgate, adaptive LED headlamps as well as an expanded array of driver assists that include lane departure warning, automatic high beams, front/rear park distance control and overhead view camera as part of its $37,150 sticker.
Beyond third-row seating on 4Motion models, key Tiguan options include a driver assistance package (forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian monitoring, blind spot warnings and rear traffic alert) for the S and a Panoramic sunroof for the SE. Later in the year, a sporty R-Line package also will be offered for the SEL and SEL Premium.
