2018 Subaru BRZ STI Teased

Subaru used its Twitter account to flash this single detail of what could be a 2018 BRZ STI. Affixed to the decklid of a BRZ, this prominent carbon fiber fixed wing carries an “STI” logo on the endplate. Given the photo was accompanied by the message “Stay tuned…6/8/17. #STI,” we shouldn’t have long to wait for the complete picture.

Back in 2015, the automaker promised additional full-on Subaru Technica International (STI) models would join the WRX here in America at the same time it unveiled the STI Performance Concept at the New York Auto Show. That striking one-off matched bolder bodywork and upgraded running gear with a 300-horsepower/2.0-liter turbocharged boxer four engine from a Subaru BRZ GT300 racing car. It’s still unclear whether the vehicle seen in this image will have the same level of STI mechanical enhancement or merely benefit from a selection of STI-designed performance parts. Either way, there’s good news ahead for BRZ fans.
