Porsche has released details on the new 2018 718 Boxster GTS and 718 Cayman GTS and each of the two-seater sports cars receive a power boost to 365 horsepower.
The iconic German automaker said the increase of up to 35 horsepower from previous GTS models and 15 horsepower over the 718 S model is possible thanks to a new intake duct and optimized turbocharger for the 2.5-liter, four-cylinder boxer engine. The GTS models, or Gran Turismo Sport, provide an even sportier driving experience than the base 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman.
Maximum torque is up to 317 lb-ft (309 lb-ft with the manual transmission), all of it available from 1,900 to 5,000 rpm (1,900 to 5,500 rpm with manual transmission).
Thanks primarily to the increased power numbers, the new 718 GTS models have been clocked running to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds when equipped with the Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission. Top track speed is 180 mph.
The mid-engine, rear-wheel drive 718 Boxster GTS and 718 Cayman GTS are available with a standard manual, six-speed transmission. The dual-clutch PDK automatic transmission offers seven forward gears.
In addition to higher performance, the GTS Boxster and Cayman models also have unique looks. They receive a Sport Design front fascia, tinted front and rear lights, black GTS model logos, black lower rear fascia and black exhaust tips on the Sport Exhaust System. GTS name logos also are featured in black on the base of the doors and the cars get matte black 20-inch wheels.

The interior of the Boxster GTS and Cayman GTS also receive special touches. The GTS logo is embroidered in the headrests of the standard Sport Seats Plus. The seats feature Alcantara material in the center and Porsche promises ample lateral support.
The GTS models include a number of standard performance-boosting features including Porsche Torque Vectoring with a mechanical rear-differential lock, the Sport Chrono Package, and Porsche Active Suspension Management which lowers the ride height by 0.39 inches compared to the standard suspensions on the 718 Boxsters and Caymans.
The Sport Chrono Package features a chronograph mounted in the center of the dashboard, and an associated Porsche Track Precision App allows drivers to record, display and analyze track driving data on their smartphones. The app requires the optional Navigation Module package ($1,780) and Connect Plus package ($1,720).
GTS models’ dimensions, fuel economy estimates and curb weights have not been released.
Prices start at $79,800 for the 2018 718 Cayman GTS and $81,900 for the 2018 718 Boxster GTS, plus a $1,050 delivery fee. The PDK option runs another $3,730 on each.
The cars are available to order and are expected to arrive in U.S. showrooms by March 2018.
