While still holding back on plenty of details, Nissan has now stated that the all-new 2018 Leaf EV will have its formal coming-out party on September 6. This latest bit of info was accompanied by a new image of the 2018 Leaf’s grille that shows a 3D pattern insert that will herald a more dramatically styled exterior. Based on an earlier teaser shot, the next-gen Leaf also will offer full-LED headlamps.
Although powertrain specifics remain largely speculative, expect both motor power and battery capacity in the 2018 Leaf to be significantly enhanced. If speculation proves anywhere close to correct, we could see up to a 60-kWh lithium-ion pack in some versions of the car and a maximum per-charge range beyond the 200-mile mark. Finally, as its corporate fleet rolls down the road to Intelligent Mobility, Nissan also promises that the 2018 Leaf will offer the automaker’s Propilot single-lane semi-autonomous driving assist.
