Adding flair to the most affordable version of its classic sports car, Nissan is unveiling the 2018 370Z Heritage Edition at the New York Auto Show. While not exactly time-correct to coincide with a half century since the Z-Car was introduced here under the Datsun brand, the automaker felt it was close enough to create this distinctive Heritage Edition. Interestingly, that decision also leaves the door open for a more elaborate 50th Anniversary version of the original 240Z model come 2020.

“Over the past five decades there have been a number of special Z trim packages that have added a sense of customization straight off the showroom floor,” said Michael Bunce, vice president, Product Planning, Nissan North America, Inc. “The new 2018 370Z Heritage Edition honors that tradition, blending it with the modern design and performance of the 2018 370Z. We’re pleased to be debuting the new Heritage Edition in New York, one of the top Z markets from the very beginning.”

Available only on the base 370Z Coupe, the Heritage Edition will be offered in Chicane Yellow and Magnetic Black, the former with black outside mirrors, gloss-black graphics and yellow interior trim, the latter with gloss silver graphics and yellow cabin accents. Both versions feature a revised headlight and rear combination-light treatment, a bespoke rear fascia paint scheme and smoke chrome door handles. The 370Z’s standard 322-horsepower/3.7-liter V6 can be mated to a standard 6-speed manual transmission that is paired with an Exedy high-performance clutch or an optional 7-speed automatic with Downshift Rev Matching capability. The 2018 Nissan 370Z Heritage Edition will go on sale later this spring, although pricing has yet to be announced. Current 2017 Nissan 370Z models start at $30,855.
