Ready to expand its lineup with a new midsize model, Land Rover released a teaser image of the new 2018 Range Rover Velar. Its name comes from the Latin ‘velare,’ which means to veil or cover and was originally applied to the first Range Rover prototypes that began testing in the late 1960’s. The new Velar heads boasts unique sustainable materials, advanced engineering and a raft of “all-new consumer technologies” designed to advance Land Rover’s ambition to go “Above and Beyond.”

Land Rover Chief Design Officer, Gerry McGovern, describes the new Velar as “the avant-garde Range Rover", claiming that “it brings a new dimension of glamor, modernity and elegance to the brand.” While there’s clearly much more to learn about this newcomer, McGovern contends “The Range Rover Velar changes everything." Full details will be released March 1 ahead of its debut at the Geneva Motor Show.
