Although Land Rover introduced as the all-new Discovery earlier this year as a 2017 model, the British SUV specialist has announced upgrades to the 2018 versions that include powertrains, driver assist options and vehicle personalization. The 2018 Discovery is expected to go on sale early next year.
One of the changes is expanding the availability of the 254 horsepower 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 that makes 443 lb-ft of torque to include the SE trim level. It was previously available only in the upmarket HSE and HSE Luxury trim levels. The new engine will offer entry-level buyers an alternative to the supercharged 3.0-liter gas V6 that makes 340 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque.

New infotainment standard
Land Rover is also making emergency braking systems and the InControl Touch Pro infotainment system with a 10-inch touchscreen as standard equipment on all models and will offer 4G Wi-Fi connectivity for up to eight mobile devices. An all-new second generation head-up display will be available on HSE and HSE Luxury models, which will also benefit from new standard equipment 12.3-inch TFT interactive driver displays in the instrument cluster.
Buyers will also be able to choose from new exterior treatments including a new Bryon Blue hue as well as being able to spec a body-colored roof for the first time instead of opting for either a Corris Grey or Narvik Black contrasting top.
Pricing for the 2018 Land Rover Discovery starts at $52,090 on the SE model, $58,490 for the HSE and $65,490 for the HSE Luxury model. Opting for the turbodiesel Td6 version adds $2,000 to all prices, which exclude delivery charges of $995.
