The versatile Honda Fit gets a modest makeover for 2018 that makes the popular subcompact hatch even more appealing. In addition to a bit more visual edge, the Fit adds a new Sport variant between the existing LX and EX models and introduces the Honda Sensing suite of driver-assist technologies to the lineup.

Bolstering curbside charm

Highlighting the exterior changes to all 2018 Fit models is a recast front fascia that incorporates a new dual-element chrome/piano-black grille design with a more prominent “H” logo at its center. The remix also brings restyled headlamps that feature a more integrated look as well as an additional brightwork accent, a full-width splitter and reshaped fog lamp housings. The Fit’s rear fascia receives a similar update, with new character lines and a restyled taillight treatment.

Opting for the new Fit in Sport spec cranks things up a notch, adding a lower, sharper front splitter highlighted in bright orange, a three-strake rear diffuser also with an orange accent, chrome exhaust outlet and exclusive black-finish 16-inch alloy wheels. The expanded color palette on all 2018 Fit models includes two new high-profile hues: Orange Fury and Helios Yellow Pearl.

Playing it even safer

Arguably the most important change for the 2018 model year is the introduction of the Honda Sensing suite of assists. Optional on LX and Sport trims but standard on EX and above models, it includes handy drivers assists like adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist, plus more safety-oriented features like collision mitigation braking, lane departure warning and road departure mitigation. The 2018 Honda Fit lineup arrives in dealers next month. Pricing and other details will be released closer to the actual on-sale date.
