2018 GMC Yukon Denali Updated

Heading to showrooms this fall, the 2018 GMC Yukon Denali will add a bit more sophisticated flair to its appearance and gain a new 10-speed automatic transmission among other upgrades. The Yukon Denali’s new “multi-dimensional” grille design borrows its layered theme from the latest GMC Acadia and Terrain models and is paired with standard HID headlamps and supplemental LED Signature Lighting. In addition to its more distinguished appearance, this new grille also provides better airflow to the radiator and conceals new automatic shutters that reduce aero drag while cruising.

More efficient 10-speed

While the Yukon Denali’s 420-horsepower/6.2-liter V8 carries over, its current 8-speed automatic transmission will give way to a new 10-speed Hydra-Matic unit that GMC says offers smoother shifting and greater responsiveness along with a wider ratio spread that will contribute to better efficiency. Still, there’s no word yet on updated EPA fuel economy figures.

Now accounting for over half of all sales in GMC’s full-size SUV line, the 2018 Denali also gets new Mastique Ash wood accent trim on its leather-lined cabin. It will continue to be offered in both Yukon and long-wheelbase Yukon XL configurations. Pricing and additional details for all 2018 GMC Yukon Denali models will be released closer to the on-sale date.
