UPDATE: We’ve now driven the 2018 GMC Terrain
GMC has given us a glimpse of what to expect when the wraps officially come off of its all-new 2018 Terrain crossover SUV. What we can see here is that the next-gen Terrain features a unique floating-style roof treatment that’s sure to set it further apart from its compact cousin, the Chevrolet Equinox.

Like the equally new 2018 Equinox that made its debut last November in Los Angeles, the upcoming Terrain will be based on a variation of the new GM D2XX global platform that underpins the Buick Envision. While there’s no word on potential powertrain choices, we anticipate this new GMC offering will share the same trio of turbocharged 4-cylinder engines — including 175-horsepower 1.5-liter and 252-horse 2.0-liter gasoline burners as well as a high-torque 136-horspower 1.6-liter turbodiesel – along with the choice of front- or on-demand 4-wheel drive and a comprehensive array of safety/driver assist features.
