Presented as a concept at the New York Auto Show, the 2017 Volkswagen #PinkBeetle is headed to showrooms this fall as a limited-edition available in both coupes and convertibles. And yes, for better or for worse, Volkswagen notes the #PinkBeetle is the first vehicle to include a hashtag as part of its official name.

Like the original Pink Beetle Concept, the production model is finished in Fresh Fuchsia Metallic, this time set off with gloss black mirror caps and black running boards. Both body types share bi-xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lights, taillamps and license-plate lights. Coupes feature 17-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels while the drop-tops get 18-inch 5-spoke Twister-design rims. Inside the #PinkBeetle sports unique Pink Club cloth seats and a black dashpad with pink accents as well as a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel with shift paddles. Other notable equipment includes the automaker’s MIB II infotainment system with a 6.3-inch capacitive touchscreen and VW’s Car-Net App-Connect suite that allows seamless connectivity of various smart devices using Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink along with heated front seats, keyless access and push-button start.

All 2017 Volkswagen #PinkBeetle models will be powered by170-horsepower/1.8-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder TSI engines mated to a 6-speed automatic transmissions. Pricing will be released closer to the on-sale date.
