The 2017 Land Rover Discovery Sport will arrive this August offering buyers a bit more flash along with a new, high-tech infotainment and several driver assists. In presenting the updates for its compact SUV, Gerry McGovern, chief design officer, noted: "Our customers want their vehicles to stand out and expect a wide range of personalization options. The latest additions to the Discovery Sport deliver this in a premium way."

In addition to expanding its exterior color choices with Silicon Silver, Farallon Black, Carpathian Grey and Aruba metallic finishes, Land Rover Discovery Sport HSE and HSE Lux variants will be available with a new Dynamic Design Pack. It brings more aggressive front/rear fascias, black accents, gloss black 20-inch alloy wheels and bright-finish exhaust outlets. The Dynamic Design kit also extends to the cabin where it brings custom floor mats, contrast stitching on the leather seats and shift knob as well as metal trim on the console sides and pedals.

Next-gen infotainment

The 2017 Land Rover Discovery Sport also will offer a new InControl Touch Pro infotainment system with a larger 10.2-inch touchscreen that supports tablet-style pinch/swipe inputs and contains a selection of intuitive menus that have the look and functionality of smartphone apps. The 21:9 widescreen display eliminates conventional buttons and relies on an ultra-fast processing chip and solid state hard drive to deliver immediate responses.

Other new safety-related options on Discovery Sport HSE/HSE Lux models include an Intelligent Speed Limiter, Lane Keep Assist and a Driver Condition Monitor system. Finally, Discovery Sport models with InControl Touch and InControl Touch Pro infotainment systems will offer JLR’s new Tile tracking app designed to locate any personal item that’s been fitted with small Bluetooth tagging element.
