The 2017 Ford Super Duty pickup family will introduce a new strain of cup-holder technology that should please even the thirstiest of owners. This new – and patented – transformable cup-holder design relies on a combination dual cup holder/storage bin between the front seats. A movable panel above the existing holders can be slid to the left to create an additional pair of receptacles when needed, a move that raises the total cup-holder count from eight to 10.
The release also pointed out that Ford chose this innovative solution as the result of global research it had commissioned on the subject of how owners feel about the size, location, number and functionality of cup holders in their vehicles. “Being dissatisfied with your cup holders may be a minor annoyance, but it’s a daily one, which over time detracts from the overall car experience,” said Jolanta Coffey, Ford instrument panel and console manager. “On the other hand, when you like your cup holders, they can make your vehicle feel like home.”
