The waiting is finally over as the first production versions of the 2017 Ford GT are rolling out of the Multimatic facility in Markham, Ontario, Canada. To mark the event, Ford executive vice president, global product development and chief technical officer, Raj Nair, drove the GT pictured here off of the dedicated low-volume assembly line operated by one of Canada’s premiere race engineering organizations.
“When we kicked off 2016, we had two primary objectives for our Ford GT supercar – to excel at Le Mans, and to start deliveries before year-end,” says Nair. “We’ve achieved both.”

Unveiled at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, the Ford GT is a technological tour de force that matches a 600-plus horsepower version of the latest 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 with carbon fiber structure, aero-optimized bodywork and a race-bred suspension. Only 1,000 total examples of this $450,000 supercar will be built – and limited to 250 units over each of the next four years. Production for the first three years has already been spoken for, with Job 1 and Job 2 heading to Ford Motor Company Executive Chairman Bill Ford Jr. and Ford’s CEO and Chairman Mark Fields.
