Ford has finally released official performance stats for its new GT supercar and the numbers are as stunning as the vehicle itself. Always touted as having “over 600” horsepower, SAE pony count from the Ford GT’s 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 formally locks in at a heady 647 when spinning at 6,250 rpm. On the twist side of the equation, the engine’s 550 lb-ft of maximum torque peaks at 5,900 revs with 90 percent of that on hand from just 3,500 rpm.
Coupling that motive force with the new GT’s trim 3,000-lb dry weight and aero-optimized active-dynamics bodywork and suspension leads to another impressive figure, maximum velocity. Recent testing showed a top speed of 216 mph, which makes it the fastest-ever Ford production car.

“Our expectation has always been that the EcoBoost V6 would perform exceptionally well in the Ford GT – both in terms of power as well as aerodynamic efficiency,” said Dave Pericak, global director, Ford Performance. “We tested and developed this powertrain through the Daytona Prototype race car that ran in IMSA for two seasons, last season racing with Ford GT. We are extremely pleased with how it performs, both on the track and on the road.”
