2017 Dodge Challenger GT: AWD on the way

Dodge revealed the latest member of its Challenger lineup: the new all-wheel drive Challenger GT. Headed to showrooms the first quarter of next year, this new coupe shares the same all-wheel drive system found in the Charger SE AWD and SXT AWD sedans but adds enthusiast-focused design touches to the mix.

Solid performance in any weather

Standard engine in the new Challenger GT is a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 that makes 305 horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque. It’s backed by an 8-speed TorqueFlite automatic with a shift-quickening Sport mode that can send power to all four corners though Dodge’s all-wheel drive package. An active transfer case with front-axle disconnect lets the Challenger GT operate in rear-drive until conditions require more grip. At that point, the AWD system – which is fully integrated with the GT’s enhanced Vehicle Dynamic Control system — engages the front wheels and doles out torque to the car’s meaty 235/55 all-season performance tires that are wrapped around 19-inch alloy wheels done in a Hyper Black finish. The Challenger GT also includes Dodge’s Super Track Pak that brings upgraded suspension, a tri-mode stability control with “full-off” setting and the Dodge Performance Pages app that offer real-time and storable dynamics data.

Inside, the GT has premium Nappa leather seating, aluminum bezels, heated/ventilated front buckets with 4-way power driver lumbar adjustment, a heated steering wheel with shift paddles sitting atop a tilt/telescoping column. The GT als haso Uconnect infotainment with an 8.4-inch touchscreen, that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 276-watt/6-speaker Alpine audio system, ParkSense rear park assist, ParkView rear backup camera, bright pedals and a universal garage door opener.
