As promised, Audi has begun expanding the powertrain scope of its largest SUV offering with the addition of a new Q7 2.0T Quattro model. Joining the fully redesigned 2017 Q7 3.0T V6 which rolled onto the scene earlier this year, the upcoming entry-level Q7 will arrive in showrooms in early 2017. The new Q7 2.0T is powered by Audi’s upgraded 2.0-liter TFSI turbo 4-cylinder and shares its aluminum-intensive architecture as well as nearly all of its premium feature set and running gear with the V6-powered Q7. Beyond the automaker’s signature Quattro AWD system, key Q7 2.0T standards include an 8-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission, Audi Pre-Sense City automatic emergency braking, full LED headlamps and 3-row seating for up to seven. Options like the Virtual Cockpit reconfigurable instrument cluster, adaptive cruise control, Bose 3D Sound System and the latest MMI features let buyers add even more appeal.
Boasting 252 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque — which is on hand in full measure between 1,600 and 4,500 rpm — the new Q7 2.0T is half a second quicker to 60 mph than the previous-generation Q7 V6. Being almost 500 pounds lighter, the new 2.0T also is 22 percent more fuel efficient and Audi anticipates it will earn a 22 mpg combined EPA rating. While those who need a Q7 with maximum towing capacity are still going to opt for the new-gen 3.0T with its 333 horses and 7,500-lb max towing capacity, the Q7 2.0T can still haul a 4,400 pound trailer with the optional tow package.

The 2017 Audi Q7 2.0T Quattro will be offered in Premium and Premium Plus trim grades with the former starting at $49,950 and the latter at $53,950. By comparison, the 2017 Audi Q7 3.0T Quattro Premium starts at $55,750, the Premium Plus opens at $59,750, and the Q7 3.0 Prestige kicks off at $65,250.
