Current segment leaders in the Heavy Duty pickup category when it comes to torque, towing and payload, the Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty pickups are establishing new benchmarks for 2016 thanks to a recalibrated 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel which ups its class-best torque from 835 lb-ft to an unprecedented 900 lb-ft, the most ever in any mass-produced vehicle.

While the 2016 Ram 2500 continues to lead the 3/4-ton pickup contingent with 17,980 pounds of towing capacity, the one-ton Ram 3500 now boasts a 31,210- pound rating, up from the current 30,000 pounds and over 4,000 pounds more than its closest rival. To ensure durability, that enhancement is accompanied by a beefier rear differential housing and ring gear.

The brawniest member of the Ram family also maintains its max-payload supremacy with a 7,390-pound total when fitted with the 6.4-liter Hemi V8 but the 2016 Ram 3500 will see it best-in-class Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR) pop from the current 37,900 pound to 39,100 pounds when properly equipped.
