While much of Nissan‘s "With Dad" Super Bowl commercial used various forms of motorsport as a backdrop, the automaker slipped in a subtle first look at its all-new 2016 Nissan Maxima during the final seconds of the spot. Bearing a solid, albeit toned-down resemblance to the Nissan Sport Sedan Concept shown a year ago in Detroit, the production 2016 Maxima lives up to the promise made by Nissan Senior Vice President and Chief Creative Officer Shiro Nakamura, who confirmed that striking one-off’s emotional style and edginess offered "a strong hint of the design direction we are taking." Beyond more aggressive bodywork, the remake did carry forward a more prominent V-shaped front grille and the distinctive floating roof also found on the new Murano. Although full details on the new Maxima are expected to accompany its appearance in the Big Apple, don’t be surprised if more tidbits leak out between now and then. We’ll keep you posted.
