Making its debut at the Geneva Auto Show, the 2016 Ferrari GTC4Lusso is a well-focused redesign of its current FF model that gives the automaker’s only all-wheel drive model more style and power while enhancing handling with new 4-wheel steering and refinements to its traction control system. Beyond visual and dynamic enhancements, the new GTC4Lusso also boasts significant refinements to its 4-seat cabin, highlighted by a more user friendly controls and upgraded infotainment.
Visually, the GTC4 Lusso benefits from a series of subtle tweaks that add sleekness and sophistication to its shape and “substantially lowers” its coefficient of drag. Rendered by Ferrari Design, the recasting has an elegant fascia based around a new a grille that integrates the outboard air intakes. Reshaped front fenders sport new vents which transition into aggressively sculpted side panels. The GTC4Lusso’s roofline has a lower and faster angle towards the back glass than the FF which improves its profile and it also gains an integrated spoiler to further abet aero. Rounding out the remix is a bolder tail that brings tastefully integrated dual round lamps, distinctive vents that recall those seen on a 330C and a highly functional triple-fence diffuser.
Quicker and more agile
While the heart of the GTC4Lusso remains the same front-mid-mounted 6.3-liter naturally aspirated V12 used in the FF, Ferrari has raised the compression ratio from 12.3:1 to a lofty 13.5:1, boosting horsepower from 651 to 680 and torque from 486 to 514 lb-ft. with 80 percent of those twist units on hand from just 1,750 rpm. That motive force still heads to all four corners via the existing 7-speed dual-clutch automatic and with curb weight unchanged, that extra muscle trims 0-62 mph time to 3.4 second compared to 3.7 ticks for the FF. Top speed of this high-velocity shooting brake remains unchanged at 208 mph.

Ferrari also upgraded its impressive 4RM Evo all-wheel-drive system to integrate rear-wheel steering for the first time. The patented and now renamed 4RM-S package also has the latest 4.0 version of the automaker’s Side Slip Control. This iteration directly interfaces with the car’s electronic differential (E-Diff) and SCM-E magnetorheological adaptive dampers to provide additional stability on rough road surfaces as well as improved overall ride comfort and even more agility in quick transitions.
