2016 Chevrolet Equinox teased for Chicago

Spied late last year wearing camouflage while testing in Detroit, the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox is set to debut at the Chicago Auto Show. Save for slightly edgier front fascia contours, redesigned alloy wheels and new headlamp/fog lamp treatments visible in this official preview image, Chevy has not revealed any specific details about the extent of changes we’ll see when the wraps come off of the updated 2016 version in the Windy City. While the interior of this people-friendly 5-passenger crossover SUV also seems destined to benefit from some form of modest refresh, its existing 4-cylinder and V6 engines will most likely carry over.

Last updated for the 2010 model year, the Equinox has remained a huge success for Chevrolet. Sales hit 242,242 in 2014, making it the third best-selling model in the division’s entire lineup behind only the Silverado and the Cruze. That momentum carried over into 2015, where it kicked things off with a 34-percent year-over-year gain to net its best January ever. Given that as a starting point, the revised 2016 Equinox seems virtually certain to become even more of a factor in one of the industry’s most highly contested segments.
