Audi will begin offering the Apple CarPlay system in its all-new models that will go on sale in Europe next year and arrive in the U.S. in early 2016. Already offered in various 2014 Ferrari, Honda, Hyundai Mercedes-Benz and Volvo models, CarPlay integrates any iPhone 5, 5S or 5C into the vehicle’s infotainment/telematics and display systems, in this case, Audi’s already impressive MMI multimedia setup. Once plugged in, the driver can use the phone to make calls, get directions, send/receive messages, listen to music or access any other apps using Siri voice activation and either touch or conventional dial controls. In addition to minimizing the chances for potentially dangerous distraction, the system will allow drivers to easily switch between the CarPlay view and various Audi infotainment functions.

"Audi owners have high expectations when it comes to integrating access to mobile devices in vehicles," said Scott Keogh, President, Audi of America. "CarPlay is immediately recognizable to iPhone users and will be a great added benefit for our customers." Audi has yet to confirm which specific new models will offer the CarPlay systems when it does launch here in America.
