A redesigned 2016 Acura RDX is set to debut next month at the Chicago Auto Show. While details are few at this point, Acura has confirmed that its 5-passenger compact crossover will add more style and creature comforts while bolstering its performance – all "designed to further solidify its leadership in the compact luxury SUV segment."

Last recast in 2013, the RDX’s mid-cycle exterior and interior upgrades are expected to endow it with a more contemporary appearance that embodies selective cues from the new TLX. Acura indicates the cabin changes will upgrade the luxury and sporting side of the RLX while improving comfort and lowering NVH levels. It also would be an ideal time to see additional premium safety features join the RDX’s roster of equipment.

While the current RDX has a 3.5-liter V6 in both front- and all-wheel-drive models giving it an impressive mix of quickness and efficiency, we’re curious if Acura will crank up output from today’s 273-horsepower. Ditto for whether they’ll tweak its suspension to add a bit more enthusiast-grade handling prowess. We’ll know more when the wraps come off on February 12.
