Putting a contemporary spin on historic cool, the 2015 VW Beetle Classic 1.8T Coupe goes on sale this week. Priced at $20,015, the newest addition to the Beetle family opens nearly $1,500 below its baseline 1.8T counterpart. Despite an attractive entry price, this limited-edition model features a host of premium standards as well as an assortment of unique cosmetic touches that further enhance its appeal.

The new Beetle Classic 1.8T Coupe sets off its Pure White, Black Uni or Reflex Silver exterior with a set of custom 17-inch "Heritage" aluminum wheels that sport cool VW-logo chrome hub caps and a rear spoiler. Inside, the vintage-look cabin is highlighted by two-tone brown "Sioux" leatherette and checked-cloth upholstery. Other Classic touches include comfort-spec front buckets, a multifunction steering wheel, leather-wrapped shifter knob and handbrake, RNS 315 touchscreen navigation system and Sirius XM Satellite Radio.

Like the standard 1.8T Coupe, the new Beetle Classic version is powered by VW’s 170-horsepower/1.8-liter turbocharged TSI 4-cylinder engine that’s mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Early next year, it will be joined by a Classic 1.8T Convertible that set to start at $26,815 — $650 more than a regular Beetle 1.8T drop-top.
