2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class production begins in Alabama

The first of the new 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class models have now begun rolling off the assembly line at the firm’s U.S. assembly plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The Mercedes-Benz U.S. International plant began production in 1997 with the M-Class and has since expanded its product mix to include the GL-Class and the R-Class, a model no longer in the M-B lineup. This marks the first time a passenger car will be manufactured on the site.

To ensure that U.S.-built versions of the new C-Class match the levels of quality and consistency of those manufactured at its "home" facility in Bremen, Germany, over 100 members of the MBUSI team spent time there undergoing intensive training to master the build processes and technologies involved in turning out  M-B’s best-selling global model. The 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class goes on sale here this fall. First to arrive will be C300 4Matic and C400 4Matic models, with a rear-drive C300 to follow in the spring followed by a new C63 AMG and a possible C-Class Coupe.  We came away quite impressed from our recent drive of the 2015 C-Class in Europe, and look forward to checking out one of these new U.S.-sourced models in the near future.
