2015 Infiniti QX80 revamp includes new QX80 Limited model

Making its world debut in New York, the 2015 Infiniti QX80 gains more aggressive styling cues and adds a healthy dose of tech features while bolstering the lineup with a luxury-oriented QX80 Limited model. 

A bolder new face 

All versions of the 2015 Infiniti QX80 display an edgier visage thanks to a front-end refresh that recalls the look of the Q50 sport sedan. The modified fascia on this 7-passenger SUV includes a reshaped upper grille and a new lower intake element plus flush-mounted sonar sensors while the lighting elements – head/fog/directionals – also get a makeover and transition to full-LED designs. While the sole rear-end change is the fitment of  a larger cargo guard, there are two new alloy wheel designs: standard machine-finished cast 20-inchers and trick 22-inch forged rims – the biggest wheels offered in the entire segment.

Inside, the basic QX80 enjoys a mix of cosmetic and functional enhancements. Beyond new color schemes and richer leather and wood trim elements, the 2015 QX80 adds standard High Beam Assist and Predictive Forward Collision Warning system along with 3-Blink/one-touch turn signals. Last year’s Technology Package also has been split into a new Driver Assistance Package and Deluxe Technology Package to let buyer better match a selection of tech features to their personal preferences.

An ultra-lux alternative 

Taking things one step beyond on all levels, the new 2015 Infiniti QX80 Limited is a direct response to owner’s demands for an even more exclusive offering. Starting out with a fully loaded, all-wheel-drive QX80, the Limited adds even more premium elements to the mix. Available in six colors – three exclusive to the model – this ultra-spec QX80 features distinctive dark-chrome exterior trim complemented by dark-finish 22-inch alloy wheels. 

Inside, the QX80 Limited displays an elegant albeit decidedly masculine character that Infiniti Americas President Michael Bartsch candidly admits can be likened to "a mobile man cave." The sole upholstery available – Truffle Brown semi-aniline leather — features a custom quilted design and silver accent stitching while the rich natural-tone Ash that adorns the doors and center console has an open-pore design. Other bespoke QX80 Limited touches include Ultrasuede headliner and pillar coverings, premium smooth leather on the steering-wheel rim and branded illuminated stainless steel door sill plates. There no are no option packages available for the QX80 Limited.

Like the standard QX80, the new Limited version is powered by a 5.6-liter V8 that cranks out 400 horses and 413 lb-ft of torque. Here too, it’s matched with a 7-speed automatic transmission. In addition to standard All-Mode AWD, the QX80 Limited also comes with the Hydraulic Body Motion Control system that’s optional on the base QX80. 

The 2015 Infiniti QX80 will arrive in dealers this fall with the QX80 Limited due in showrooms by year’s end. Pricing for both will be released closer to their respective on-sale dates.
