2014 Scion FR-S Release Series 1.0 surfaces

Making its debut in New York, the limited-edition 2014 Scion FR-S Release Series 1.0 draws both stylistic inspiration and technical tweakage from the renowned go-fast guys at Toyota Racing Division. Finished in bright-yellow "Yuzu" paint, the first FR-S Release Series features a custom aero kit that includes a more aggressive front spoiler and side sill extensions as well as a bolder rear-end treatment that integrates a TRD Quad Tip Exhaust System into a unique lower valance panel. A set of TRD lowering springs give the FR-S RS 1.0 a more competitive profile while Smart Key with Push Button Start adds both convenience and a classic competitive touch to the mix.

Production for the 2014 Scion FR-S Release Series 1.0 will be capped at 1,500 units. Like the other FR-S models, buyers will be able to back its unchanged 200-horsepower/2.0-liter flat-four with the standard 6-speed manual transmission or paddle-shiftable 6-speed automatic with Dynamic Rev Management technology. Arriving at dealers soon, the 2014 Scion FR-S Release Series 1.0 with a manual gearbox will start "under $30,000 excluding the $755 destination fee with an autoshifted alternative bumping the bottom line by $1,100."
