2014 Kia Sorento Justice League Concept unveiled at Comic-Con

The eighth and final Kia vehicle prepared as a mobile homage to the members of DC Entertainment’s Justice League was revealed at the annual Comic-Con convention that opened in San Diego last night. Like the previous seven custom Kias that had been presented over the course of the last 10 months at various high-profile events, this one-off 2014 Sorento CUV was created to help support DC’s ongoing involvement in the "We Can Be Heroes" giving campaign to raise awareness and help combat the hunger crisis in the Horn of Africa. Following the grand unveiling, it was announced the car would be the star of a 10-day online charity auction on eBay which will directly benefit the "We Can Be Heroes" campaign.

To suitably complement its unique exterior graphics that were penned by DCE Co-Publisher Jim Lee, the Justice League Sorento also sports a blackout grille treatment and custom alloy wheels. The cabin matches black leather upholstery set off with contrast piping color keyed to each individual super hero/heroine and features graphic accent elements that mimic the look of actual comic book pages. While one would like to believe that all Justice League Members enjoy equal status, the individually logoed seats would seem to tell a different story. While Superman’s perch is behind the wheel with Batman at his side and row two is the realm of Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and The Flash, the not-so-dynamic Cyborg/Aquaman duo have been relegated to the Sorento’s innermost sanctum.

In commenting on the ongoing auction, which also will include original DC Comics-inspired items from a number of well-known artists, DCE President Diane Nelson noted, "Our goal in 2013 was to bring our fans and the Justice League Super Heroes together in unique ways to fight the hunger crisis in the Horn of Africa. That effort started with the once-in-a-lifetime opportunities we’ve been able to offer through our crowdfunding campaigns that have raised over $285,000 to-date. Now, through these tremendous partnerships with Kia and eBay, the auction will take the offerings to a whole new level with a truly one-of-a-kind, and fully drivable, CUV customized by Jim Lee."
