2013 Porsche Cayenne GTS unveiled – 420 HP coming this summer

Set for a formal reveal later this month at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, the 2013 Porsche Cayenne GTS will be arriving here in August. While not quite as intense as the 500- horsepower Cayenne Turbo, the 4.8-liter naturally aspirated V8 in the new GTS has been tuned to make 420 ponies — 20 more than the current Cayenne S model — and is backed by a dedicated version of the Cayenne’s eight-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission with integrated Auto Start-Stop function. The new Cayenne GTS also boasts a lower final-drive ratio for added off- the-line quickness. Collectively those changes let this all-wheel-drive crossover streak from 0- 60 mph in 5.4 seconds and hit a top speed of 162 mph.

To help it look the part, the 2013 Porsche Cayenne GTS also features a number of focused styling tweaks, starting with the fitment of a Cayenne Turbo hood and front fascia. Wider wheel arches, more prominent side sills, 275/45 performance tires on 20-inch RS Spyder alloy wheels with a wider Cayenne GTS offset, high-gloss black trim, a sport exhaust system with matte-black twin-outlet finishers and two new paint colors, Peridot Metallic and Carmine Red, complete the visual remake while ride height has been dropped 20mm to improve handling dynamics.

Porsche also revamped the interior appointments on the 2013 Cayenne GTS, most prominently with the addition of exclusive GTS eight-way adjustable front sports seats that feature Alcantara accents. A Sound Symposer "channels authentic engine intake sounds into the cabin" to add a bit more aural excitement to the mix, but the biggest gain is the first-time availability of Porsche’s Sport Chrono system on a Cayenne model, a package that lets the driver monitor and control a range of vehicle performance parameters.

Pricing for the 2013 Porsche Cayenne GTS will start at $83,025.
