The Texas State Fair provided the backdrop for the introduction of the 2013 Ford F-150 King Ranch. Named after the famed King Ranch in Texas – a massive spread that covers some 1,300 square miles, this premium member of Ford’s full-size pickup family adds its own Lone Star luxo character brand to the updated features found throughout in the entire lineup of America’s best-selling vehicle.
Keying the exterior changes on the new 2013 Ford F-150 King Ranch is a custom 3-element bright grille and King Ranch badges, although buyers will be able to order the truck with a special monotone paint treatment, add a bespoke chrome package and opt for upsized 20-inch machined aluminum wheels. The cabin comes trimmed in Chaparral leather, with a new Black option in addition to the traditional Adobe color. The upline MyFord Touch system optimized for truck owners is standard, as is interior ambient lighting.
Base engine in the F-150 King Ranch is a 360-horsepower version of Ford’s 5.0-liter Ti-VCT V8 while the 365-horse/3.5-liter Ti-VCT EcoBoost V6 is offered as an option, a choice that ups towing capacity from 10,000 pounds to a best-in-class 11,300-pound maximum. Both engines are backed by a electronic 6-speed automatic transmission with tow/haul mode and SelectShift capability.
Like other F-150 models, the new 2013 will be available with Hill Descent Control, segment-first HID headlamps and a segment-exclusive power-folding and telescoping trailer tow mirrors.
