Seeking to further leverage the popularity of its best-selling full-size pickup line, Ford has announced the availability of a new 2013 F-150 Special Service Vehicle (SSV) Package specifically designed to meet the requirements of government, municipal and corporate fleets. Offered in SuperCab and SuperCrew body styles, 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrains and with either the 5.0-liter V8 or 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engines, all versions of the no-charge SSV package will be fitted with a high capacity 220-amp alternator to better cope the higher electrical demands of ancillary lighting units and sirens.
The F-150 SSV Package also includes a series of specific Interior modifications starting with a cloth-covered 40/20/40 front seat that has the middle section and as well as the front console removed to better accommodate various types of application-specific aftermarket equipment. The second row bench seat in SSV-spec F-150’s is wrapped in durable, easy-wash vinyl. Ford also says it will place no option restrictions on the new SSV Package so that each individual truck can be custom tailored to best deal with the specific work demands of a given fleet.
