Arriving in showrooms this spring, the 2013 BMW X6 Sports Activity Coupe has added a bit more visual and visceral intensity to its character. Both the X6 xDrive35i and the xDrive50i benefit from some subtle cosmetic changes along with the arrival of a new, not-so-understated M Performance Package.
On its most basic level, this X5-based five-door hatch benefits from modest nose and tail tweaks that help foster the illusion of a wider, lower appearance. Up front, the new BMW X6 Sports Activity Coupe features revised/repositioned fog lamps that now reside in matte-finish surrounds. Also available are new, first-in-class adaptive LED headlamps that can be ordered in place of the standard xenon units. Changes to the rear include redesigned LED taillamps with a greater "wrap" that helps reinforce X6 SAC’s the more pronounced horizontal character. The top-line X6 xDrive50i also gets a new 19-inch alloy wheel design. Inside changes are highlighted by the addition of Vermilion Red to the color palette of the standard Nevada leather upholstery along with new Ivory White Nappa leather.
On the functional front, both the 2013 BMW X6 xDrive35i and xDrive50i can be fitted with a new M Performance Package that replaces the Sport Package offered previously. At the heart of this enthusiast-grade option is a significant bump in engine output. It elevates critical stats in the xDrive35i’s 3.0-liter TwinTurbo Power inline-six from 300 to 315 horsepower and 300 to 330 lb-ft of torque while corresponding numbers in the X6 xDrive50i’s 4.4-liter TwinPower Turbo V8 jump from 400 to 440 ponies and 450 to 480 twist units. Both engines continue to be backed with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Additional exterior goodies in the new M Performance Package include 20-inch light-alloy wheels, shadowline trim and black chrome exhaust tips as well as optional Carbon Black metallic paint. Inside, the M Performance cars feature an anthracite headliner, stainless steel pedals and an M foot rest and door sill plates.
Pricing for the 2013 BMW X6 xDrive35i and xDrive50i Sport Activity Coupes as well as the M Performance Package option will be released closer to their on-sale date.
