Heading to America in the spring, a pair of new Mini Hardtop variations will bring unique appearance touches and equipment rosters in addition to their distinctive names: the 2012 Mini Baker Street and Mini Bayswater Special Editions. Both carry on Mini’s well-established practice of having nomenclature that references a significant city or locale in Britain, ala the Mini Camden, Mini Mayfair and Mini Clubman Hampton special editions.
Honoring the home turf of history’s most famous mythical detective, the 2012 Mini Baker Street model will come in Cooper-spec only and be finished in Rooftop Grey Metallic with a black roof and custom black hood stripes configured in a subtle "V" shape. Buyers can also choose Pepper White or Midnight Black as the main exterior color. All Baker Street Special Editions will be fitted with gloss-black 16-inch Six-Star light-alloy wheels, front fog lamps and carry "Baker Street" lettering on the scuttles framing their side indicator lights. Inside, the car features diamond pattern Cross Check Rooftop Grey Light upholstery and trim, a Chrome Line Interior package, the Pepper Pack (air conditioning, on-board computer, leather steering wheel), the Chrome Line Exterior package, lighting package and a height-adjustable front passenger seat as well as a bounty of "Baker Street" badges.
Paying its homage to one of London’s best-known lifestyle districts, the 2012 Mini Bayswater Special Edition will be offered in both Cooper and Cooper S lines. All will share exclusive Kite Blue metallic paint with a Black roof, but the turbocharged Cooper S also can be ordered in Midnight Black Metallic and Eclipse Grey Metallic body colors. Other common design touches include 17-inch light-alloy Sandblast wheels with gloss-black surfaces and bright machined rim/spoke edges set off by a two-tone blue/grey split sport stripe down the center of the hood — a color motif repeated on the mirror caps. The cabin features Punch Leather seats in exclusive Rocklite Anthracite with two-tone contrast stitching, matching leather Color Line trim elements, Piano Black cockpit accent strips, the Pepper Pack and Chrome Line interior packages, stainless steel pedals and its own selection of "Bayswater" badging.
Pricing on the 2012 Mini Baker Street and 2012 Mini Bayswater Special Editions will be released closer to their on-sale dates.
