Previewed in concept form at last year’s New York Auto Show, the 2012 Kia Red Rock Special Edition has now become the seventh in a series of limited production models based on the automaker’s extremely popular compact crossover line. Kia execs say the decision to take the Soul Red Rock Special Edition from show floor to showroom was prompted by overwhelmingly positive response to its appearance in New York and at subsequent other events throughout the U.S.
Inspired by the strikingly colorful rock formations found in the great American Southwest and based on the top-line Soul Exclaim (Soul!) trim, the 2012 Kia Red Rock Special Edition sets off its unique Canyon exterior with a high-gloss black finish on the front fascia and mirror housings. Inside, the cabin boasts exclusive brown cloth seat coverings with black leather trim and richens the long list of Soul! standard features with automatic climate control and heated front seats. The Soul Exclaim drivetrain elements carry over unchanged, and match a 164-horsepower/2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a six-speed automatic transmission.
Pricing for the 2012 Kia Soul Red Rock Special Edition starts at $21,350.
