Concept: Toyota A-BAT

By Editors on January 25, 2008 2:11 PM
Designed to shine off-road, in-town and on the highway in between, the A-BAT represents Toyota's one-off return to compact pickups. Like the larger Honda Ridgeline, the A-BAT features a car-like, unibody platform. Like the Toyota Prius, it has a hybrid powertrain. While the bed measures just four feet in length, a built-in bed extender and folding mid-gate (a la Chevy Avalanche) allow for the transport of the benchmark 4-by-8-foot sheet of plywood. Other forward-looking features include dash-integrated solar panels that charge a portable navigation unit and portable power pack.
