Recall Alert: Tesla Model S, X, Y Misaligned Cameras

2022 Tesla Model S in blue.Tesla has issued a recall alert for about 1,300 Model S sedans, Model X SUVs, and Model Y SUVs from model year 2023 because the cameras that power their forward collision avoidance systems may be misaligned.

Tesla’s report to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) states that misaligned cameras could “cause certain active safety features to be unavailable, including automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning and lane keeping assist.” Tesla says the car would not warn its driver the systems weren’t functioning.

Tesla says it is unaware of any deaths or injuries due to the problem but “has identified 83 warranty claims and two field reports” that may be related to the misalignment.

Tesla will inspect the angle of the cameras and adjust them to the proper specification to fix the problem.

Recall repairs are always free.

Automakers recall many cars to fix safety defects, sometimes more than once. While automakers try to reach every owner to ask them to bring the vehicle in for repair, they rarely get them all. Millions of cars on American roads need free recall repairs. Check the easy VIN tool at our recall center to determine if your car is one of them.
