Positive Review

"A beautiful car. Fun to drive and lots of power."

This 1993 is my second Allante. The 1993 is a far superior car to the earlier models. GM made a lot of changes to the Allante for 1993. The best changes were in the brakes and the Northstar engine. This is a fast, capable and fun car to drive. It loves to go fast. These are great cars if the owner will spend the time or the money to do the required routine maintenance. I have owned mine since 1994 and have had no major problems with the car. The 93 Allante has very comfortable seats and is a great long distance cruiser. It handles well and it just fun to drive. I own several collector cars and I get as many thumbs up and people asking about the Allante as with my collector cars. If you are going to buy one, find a nice one that has been properly maintained and you will enjoy it for years. Several of these cars have gone more than 200,000 miles and are still going strong.

Critical Review

"Owner needs to find his Allante a new home"

Only reason I'm selling it is because I need someone who can care for it regularly due to my heart condition. The car has been serviced regularly and well taken care of. It is located in Shawnee OK. There are only minor interior cosmetic work which might be needed. And possibly a loose wire in the radio causing audio problems. Great car to drive, extremely comfortable, great on gas mileage, it loves to "hit it and git it" on the highway! Mileage on my car mainly highway miles. Clean and sharp car!

My Favorite Car
Pros

Classy Looks, Timeless Design, and Plenty of Power

Cons

Maintenance Repairs; Finding Parts, $$$

My 1993 Cadillac Allante finished in beautiful Montana Blue is such a treat to drive. I have the original window sticker which reads $62,870 (The only option my Allante has are the chrome wheels which were $1,195)! The car needed a lot of work when I got it last year (it only had 34,000 miles). The muffler had a hole in it and was rusted out. I had to have a custom muffler made for it and boy is it nice! Sounds like a corvette now! The car had a cracked passenger side mirror and I had to order one from Allantesource (Highly recommended and are located in West Palm Beach, Fl). The car also needed a new rear pull down mechanism to properly latch the convertible top (common problem on these cars). Lastly, these are quite rare cars. When I fill my Allante up with gas, there is always someone who stops me (both men and women) to compliment me on my big purchase! For being only 27, I love this car! I highly recommend a Cadillac Allante as it is truly a driving pleasure!

Fun, Fast Cadillac
Pros

A ball to drive, great engine, classy looks

Cons

difficult to operate soft top, quality issues

I was looking for a more comfortable weekend getaway car to replace my 1966 Corvette roadster. The handling was the biggest surprise; this car is a ball to drive on my favorite back roads. The car corners flat, the steering is communicative and the Northstar V8 is powerful, responsive and torquey. The stock exhaust system sounds great: throaty when you jump on it and quiet on the highway. The seats are very comfortable, the interior has a lot of room, the analogue tach and speedometer are large and very readable and the secondary gauges are complete including oil pressure. The interior materials are generally high end; I haven't seen nicer carpet on any car. The trunk is huge, more like a mid-size car than a two seat convertible. I got a car with a hardtop so that I could take it on fall trips and be comfortable. The interior styling is a little dated but it works. The exterior styling is conservative but still turns heads in car conscious S/E Michigan. The fuel economy is decent: I got 24-25 MPG on my last highway trip. The biggest complaint I have is the fussy soft top operation; I had to read the owners manual several times to insure I lowered and raised it correctly so I didn't damage the motors and locks. I paid 10% of the inflation adjusted MSRP for a cherry, very well maintained, low mileage Florida car; these cars are a bargain in 2014. The fact that you can buy a luxurious, V8 powered, two seat Pininfarina styled (does Ferrari's) convertible for less than a three year old compact car is amazing. If you are looking for a fun, fast, good handling toy car that is as much at home hustling around your favorite winding roads as it is being valet parked in front of a classy restaurant, I recommend you consider the 1993 Allante Northstar.
